Once again, I’ve turned to one of my fellow makeup maven & besties, Alexanna, for an amazing review of Sephora Faves Get Glowing Kit. Make sure to show Alexanna some love & share this post and leave comments below. If you’d like to read any of her other posts, I’d first recommend her great insight into the brand ColourPop here or a great review of two of Drunk Elephant’s most popular skincare products here.

So without further adieu, here’s Alexanna!!

It’s finally time to post my review of the Sephora Favorites Get Glowing Kit that I received as a Christmas gift from my lovely sister-in-law. Although the kit isn’t available anymore, the product reviews are definitely worth reading, as this kit featured some pretty amazing products. Sorry it’s taken me up until this point to use all of the products and form an opinion. Spoiler Alert, most are bomb.com

Becca Opal (Liquid Highlighter)

(discontinued)

Verdict: LOVE this product.

 Becca Opal Liquid Highlighter

Natalie has raved about Becca’s Opal pressed powder (her #4 fave product of 2015 here) & having owned this product prior to receiving the Sephora kit, I knew that I’d continue to use and like it. Becca’s highlighters are the ones that started the highlighter craze to begin with, and with good reason. All of Becca’s highlighters, whether they be powder, cream, or liquid (like this one) are amazingly pigmented and so so so beautiful on the skin.  I use this on the daily by placing a few dots on the high points of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, and on my cupid’s bow. With my Real Techniques sponge, I pounced the product into my skin. It just gives the most natural, but noticeable glow.  Sometimes I will dot my foundation on my face along with this highlighter and I’ll mix it all together for an overall, dewy glow. LOVE this product.

Farmacy Skin Dew

discontinued

Verdict: Not my favorite.

Farmacy Skin Dew

This cleanser is a good one in the sense that it cleanses the skin without making my face feel dry or stripped of moisture. The scent is refreshing and I’ve been using this to cleanse my face when I am in the shower (I use the Colleen Rothschild cleanser religiously when I’m not using this… review to come soon). I think this is a good product, but I probably won’t repurchase.

This is the only product of the bunch that I have not used on a regular basis. The Skin Dew can either be used as a makeup setting spray or simply a facial refresher spray. The ONE thing I have noticed with this product is that the sprayer itself isn’t that great. Instead of spraying the product in a fine mist, it squirts it out in a jetstream. Not my favorite.

Boscia Sake Cleansing Water

Verdict: Definitely wouldn’t purchase it on my own.

Boscia Sake Cleansing Water

I like this product to remove my face makeup but NOT to remove my eye makeup, as it really stings my eyes. It’s an oil/water type makeup remover, so shaking the bottle before using is key. I do think this product is great for taking off my face makeup, I just don’t like it on my eyes.  The dispenser on this is a pump, which is always great for dispensing the perfect amount onto your cotton round. I wouldn’t poo-poo this product if I got it again in another kit, but I definitely wouldn’t purchase it on my own.

Korres Wild Rose Sauvage

Verdict: LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Korres Wild Rose Sauvage

If you like the scent of roses, then I think you’ll like this. This rose-scented, Vitamin C infused facial oil is lightweight on the skin and for me, when I use it at night, it really just hydrates and soothes my skin.  I’ve used this consistently at night for the past 5 months and I really do think it’s made my skin smoother and more hydrated. Just 3 drops from the dropper and that’s all I need for my entire face. I realized that I don’t reach for any additional face lotions or moisturizers since using this product.

If you have never tried a facial oil before, I think this would be something good to try. I got a generous deluxe size in the Sephora kit, and I still have a lot more to use up. I think it’s definitely worth the investment. The only negative thing I’ll say about this is the Vitamin C factor. The Vitamin C itself is not the issue. However, when companies sell Vitamin C heavy products in clear or glass packaging, it hinders the impact that Vitamin C can have. This is because light/sunlight breaks it down faster. The Drunk Elephant Vitamin C serum I spoke of in my last post is packaged in an opaque container. Because of this, I’m not to sure how ‘effective’ the Vitamin C is. Make sense? I would totally purchase this myself.

 Ole Hendriksen Truth Serum

Verdict: I think it’s another Vitamin C product worth trying.

 Ole Hendriksen Truth Serum

Another Vitamin C product that I really enjoyed (smells like oranges, which I love). You can never use enough Vitamin C on your skin! I used this product at night before bedtime. I really don’t have many ‘deep’ thoughts on this, other than I really enjoyed it and it made my skin feel nice. I think it’s another Vitamin C product worth trying.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue

Verdict: I enjoy it.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue

Included in this kit was a coupon for this complimentary FULL SIZE product. I took it into Sephora to get my shade match. Unfortunately, I don’t think I got the ‘right’ shade and I threw away my receipt too soon to even consider returning back to store to get a replacement. The one that was matched to me is a tad bit too dark; I think the artificial lighting in Sephora sort of affects how things look on the skin. I do like this product for its natural look on the skin and lightweight texture. It’s a whipped, almost mouse-y consistency. My main foundation is the It Cosmetics CC cream, and I think this product is very similar in terms of coverage.  I am not a FULL coverage foundation kind of girl, so I do only use foundation lightly and sparingly on my face and this evens out my skin tone nicely. I have just been using this with my Real Techniques sponge and I do enjoy it.

Bare Minerals SkinLongevity

Verdict: I like it.

Bare Minerals SkinLongevity

This was the product that I used right out of the gate after getting this kit. It didn’t take me very long to use up, maybe a month, so my thoughts on it are fuzzy. I remember liking this a lot when I used it at nighttime. Unless something breaks me out, I tend to say ‘I like it’ and this product is again, a lightweight serum that I enjoyed.

Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask

Verdict: I feel really bougie when I use it 😉

Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask

I’ve used this a handful of times and have yet to really make a dent in this product. This mask is a thin, jelly-type texture that applies to the skin smoothly and evenly. It says to leave it on the face for 10 minutes or longer, which I do. I can’t say there’s anything amazing about this mask, but I’ve convinced myself it does something, and that’s enough for me.  Plus I feel really bougie when I use it 😉

Beauty Blender

Verdict: Yes!

Beauty Blender

This bad boy will run $20 on it’s own, so you have to love when its included in a holiday kit or bundle. Natalie also loves snagging these in Sephora kits, like this one here. It’s definitely worth the buy. I admit though, that I have never actually used a Beauty Blender. I’ve been milking and loving my Real Techniques sponge like crazy; I clean it on a regular basis and it’s lasted me 9+ months at this point. Therefore, I haven’t broken into the Beauty Blender just yet. BUT, like most reviews that you’ll read online, this is the OG beauty sponge that makeup artists and fans swear buy. It blends in foundation and cream/liquid products into the skin flawlessly. Yes, I have not used this yet, BUT I know I’ll love it once I do!

Beauty is about perception, not about make-up. I think the beginning of all beauty is knowing and liking oneself. You can't put on make-up, or dress yourself, or do you hair with any sort of fun or joy if you're doing it from a position of correction.
