Welcome back to the Beauty Box Dilemma series! Today, we’re diving into the world of ipsy, arguably one of the hottest names in beauty subscription boxes back in 2015.

Getting Started with ipsy:

Snagging an ipsy bag could be tricky – their popularity often led to sellouts! The subscription itself was a steal at $10 a month, especially considering the full-sized products you could receive. While I couldn’t score a free bag for this review, a generous friend (thanks Alexanna!) gifted me hers.

Here’s a heads-up: if you receive an ipsy subscription as a gift, creating your own account with a personalized beauty profile might be a challenge.

What’s Inside the Bag?

Now, onto the exciting part – the goodies! My August 2015 ipsy bag boasted a mix of full-sized and sample-sized products from brands I wasn’t familiar with. This is fantastic for two reasons: it allows up-and-coming brands to reach beauty enthusiasts, and it broadens my product knowledge for both my clients and my professional kit.

Here’s a breakdown of what I got:

  • Hikari Lip Gloss – Chardonnay (Full Size): Retails for $13. This lip gloss has already made an appearance on a client’s lips, and let me tell you, it looked amazing!
  • Marc Anthony Moroccan Hair Oil (Sample Size): Perfect for trying out this popular hair care brand.
  • Aila Nail Polish – Mister Pookies (Full Size): Retails for $17 (found on Amazon for $10). A fun pop of color for your nails!
  • Starlet Pro Eyeliner Pen – Black (Full Size): Retails for $19. This eyeliner promises precise lines and bold definition.
  • Eco-Beauty Night Cream (Sample Size): A chance to explore a new night cream option.

The Verdict: Worth the Hype?

Absolutely! For just $10, you received a mix of full-sized and sample products, all designed to introduce you to new brands and beauty essentials. It was a fantastic way to explore and expand your makeup horizons.

Need Makeup Help?

Beauty is about perception, not about make-up. I think the beginning of all beauty is knowing and liking oneself. You can't put on make-up, or dress yourself, or do you hair with any sort of fun or joy if you're doing it from a position of correction.
